In love with Search Engines …

Today, I just completed reading the book titled “Google story” written by David A Wise and Mark Malseed. This book caught my attention in the right time when I was desparately trying out some research on SEO and Search engines. Even though I know that there would be nothing techy in the google story which I can learn , I decided to go for it. The way Google started its operations, the idea of page rank algorithm, how Larry and Sergy scaled their business, the game that won the AOL business for Google….it goes on. When I completed reading the book today, I could realise that I am already in love with search engines. I also made a quick analysis of all the famous Search engines in the globe from Yahoo, MSN , Baidu and also a few start up ventures like Guruji etc. The results were astonishing. It is also predicted that the online advertising would soar high in the coming years with major drift in the technology and results. Now comes the wierd plot. Can S16 create a spider program which gives more relevant and accurate results than Google in some aspects ? looks weird though, but not so ….

  • Speed is the need of the hour !

After the successful launch of March 11 marketing and brand consulting, we maintained the tempo and launched our S16 web and graphic designing school and now we are working on the launch of our new school website. So when it will end ? I have been trying to maintain the speed of my hectic work schedule but somehow or other it keeps dragging.Bad news :( . I find little time to blog, just spending less than an hour a day with family and friends, lost control on my diet , down with severe back pain, receiving continuous warnings from my friends and well wishers to take care of my health, very rarely watching television, been weeks since I went for a movie, fingers itching due to continous typing and I am just 25 …so actually what am I doing ? Is this the life I wished ? all these thoughts just ran o’er my mind few minutes back and I was almost down on my seat.

    Then,

My Subconscious came to my rescue.

It shouted “Listen Vijay, you are on a mission and creating a brand single handedly is no joke.It happens for everyone at one stage or the other and just go on …you have miles to go and taking a deep breath here is of no use. Move on, recharge yourself and march ahead. You are no ordinary guy and I know your potential.I am with you. What else you need ? “

Thats it, here I am again sharing my thoughts :) back to blogging. I believe in my subconscious and I feel that is more than enough to guide me. So from tomorrow I have decided to have a slight change in my life style and lets c how it works. ciao.

Since my college days, I have always wanted to direct and act in films. Dont know why but I have that Kollywood, Kodambakkam fever still running hot through my veins and nerves and I am sure that one day I will make it. Below is the video of my first short film as a director and actor. This short film was taken for a competition conducted by Sony and the theme of the short film is a “Thriller” i.e we should take a sequence which should have flexibility for improvisation and should have elements of a thriller film, so dont expect any story or message , just let me know your comments on it.

We almost worked 2 nights to shoot the film and 3 nights to edit, then I went to chennai for the BGM. I learnt lot of technical aspects of film making from this project eventhough this film didnt win any awards from Sony except a “well tried” letter. This film was taken in 2008.

ONE PARAGRAPH THAT EXPLAINS LIFE !

Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS which he got due to infected blood he received during a heart surgery in 1983. From World over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: “Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease”? To this Arthur Ashe replied: The world over — 5 crore children start playing tennis, 50 lakh learn to play tennis, 5 lakh learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon , 4 to semi final, 2 to the finals, When I was holding a cup I never asked GOD “Why me?”. And today in pain I should not be asking GOD “Why me?” Happiness keeps u Sweet, Trials keep u Strong, Sorrow keeps u Human, Failure Keeps u Humble, Success keeps u Glowing, But only God Keeps u Going…..

    The Entrepreneur’s Prayer

I just came across a scintillating poem written by Rick, which eased my pressure , so thought of sharing it with you all. enjoy ! :)
I awaken with the gift of yet another day and prepare for the tasks at hand,I offer up this most ardent prayer:
I pray for continued clarity of purpose so that I may hold my vision steady and keep my focus on the needs and success of others, which in turn shall bring me my success.
I pray for the wisdom to expect abundance in my life, that it surrounds me and is available for the taking and to be shameless and unapologetic upon its receipt, for I deserve abundance.
I pray for a cheerful countenance, be it clear or cloudy skies and that I may radiate and infect others with my positive attitude.
I pray for the trust of others that they may recognize my sincerity and true intentions so that we may move forward together.
I pray for the strength to fend off adversity and use my desire and determination as both weapon and shield.
I pray for the courage to carry forth my convictions during the battle of business and to resist temptation to a quicker monetary result when such temptation compromises these things for which I stand.
I pray that I may be used as a lightning rod to collect the amazing ideas already present in the universe and when blessed with such inspiration, that I may be able to apply my talents and abilities to turn the power of thought into measurable advancement of my goals.
I pray to retain my childhood wonder so that I can recognize and revel in the small miracles of each day that others may miss.
I pray for an infinite supply of self-confidence for it alone fortifies faith, strengthens my resolve and conquers the largest enemy I will ever face - fear.
I pray for a compassionate spirit and the patience to offer those who seek my advice and my help, my full and undivided attention.
I pray for good health and a feeling of well being, and the continued desire to improve those areas of my physical life I may be neglecting in the name of my spiritual and entrepreneurial advancement.
I pray that today is a day of excellence and at its conclusion I can acknowledge and be grateful for the forward motion I have made and the growth I have experienced.
I pray most of all for the understanding and support of those closest to my heart, my family, that they will equate what may seem like endless hours of apparent pre-occupation with affairs of business to what is at the very core of my being, that which drives me, for once I achieve what I have set out in its fullest, I will become that more complete being I strive to be.
It is for these things that I pray, for I am an Entrepreneur.

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the pups and set about Nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he Felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the Eyes of a little boy. Mister,” he said, “I want to buy one of your puppies.” “Well,” said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, “these puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money.” The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. “I’ve got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?”"Sure,” said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle,”Here,Dolly!” he called.Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur. The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight.

As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared; this One noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up….”I want that one,” the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy’s side and said, “Son, you don’t want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would.”With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself To a specially made shoe. Looking back up at the farmer, he said, “You see sir, I don’t run too well myself, and he will need Someone who understands.”
The world is full of people who need someone who understands

    Determination means ….

In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired by an idea to build a spectacular bridge connecting New York with the Long Island. However bridge building experts throughout the world thought that this was an impossible feat and told Roebling to forget the idea. It just could not be done. It was not practical. It had never been done before.
Roebling could not ignore the vision he had in his mind of this bridge. He thought about it all the time and he knew deep in his heart that it could be done. He just had to share the dream with someone else. After much discussion and persuasion he managed to convince his son Washington, an up and coming engineer, that the bridge in fact could be built.
Working together for the first time, the father and son developed concepts of how it could be accomplished and how the obstacles could be overcome. With great excitement and inspiration, and the headiness of a wild challenge before them, they hired their crew and began to build their dream bridge.
The project started well, but when it was only a few months underway a tragic accident on the site took the life of John Roebling. Washington was injured and left with a certain amount of brain damage, which resulted in him not being able to walk or talk or even move.
“We told them so.”"Crazy men and their crazy dreams.”"It`s foolish to chase wild visions.”
Everyone had a negative comment to make and felt that the project should be scrapped since the Roeblings were the only ones who knew how the bridge could be built. In spite of his handicap Washington was never discouraged and still had a burning desire to complete the bridge and his mind was still as sharp as ever.
He tried to inspire and pass on his enthusiasm to some of his friends, but they were too daunted by the task. As he lay on his bed in his hospital room, with the sunlight streaming through the windows, a gentle breeze blew the flimsy white curtains apart and he was able to see the sky and the tops of the trees outside for just a moment.
It seemed that there was a message for him not to give up. Suddenly an idea hit him. All he could do was move one finger and he decided to make the best use of it. By moving this, he slowly developed a code of communication with his wife.
He touched his wife’s arm with that finger, indicating to her that he wanted her to call the engineers again. Then he used the same method of tapping her arm to tell the engineers what to do. It seemed foolish but the project was under way again.
For 13 years Washington tapped out his instructions with his finger on his wife’s arm, until the bridge was finally completed. Today the spectacular Brooklyn Bridge stands in all its glory as a tribute to the triumph of one man’s indomitable spirit and his determination not to be defeated by circumstances. It is also a tribute to the engineers and their team work, and to their faith in a man who was considered mad by half the world.
It stands too as a tangible monument to the love and devotion of his wife who for 13 long years patiently decoded the messages of her husband and told the engineers what to do.Perhaps this is one of the best examples of a never-say-die attitude that overcomes a terrible physical handicap and achieves an impossible goal.
Often when we face obstacles in our day-to-day life, our hurdles seem very small in comparison to what many others have to face. The Brooklyn Bridge shows us that dreams that seem impossible can be realised with determination and persistence, no matter what the odds are.
Even the most distant dream can be realized with determination and persistence

Live the way YOU want …

I love reading great philosophies about how to live life to the fullest, enjoying each sip from the nectar of life. I have combined some of my favorites for your reading pleasure. My personal philosophy in life comes from the last line in my favorite poem Ulysses: “To strive, to seek, to find, and not the yield”. My interpretation is to strive for love, seek knowledge, find happiness, and yield not to fear.Dance like no one is watching, Love like you have never been hurt, Spend like you didn’t earn the money, and don’t take life too seriously: No one gets out alive, anyways.

Fear nothing, never quit, never give up, never surrender, and always speak your mind even when your voice trembles. A life lived in fear is a life half lived; because man should never fear death but man should fear never having lived.

Live this day as if it will be your last. Remember that you will only find “tomorrow” on the calendars of fools.

Forget yesterday’s defeats and ignore the problems of tomorrow: This is it. Doomsday, All you have.

Nothing happens by chance, so don’t chance anything; make it happen now. Don’t wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it.

Circumstance don’t make a hero, they just reveal him. Man is not the creature of circumstances, circumstances are the creatures of men.

Laugh at yourself, life, and everything around you. Laugh as a remedy and a miracle drug that will ease your pain, cure your depression, and help you to put in perspective seemingly terrible defeats and worries in life.

It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting. Remember that you have only one life to live so make the best of it. Be whoever and whatever you’d like to be. Pursue your passions and your dreams.

Don’t waste time suffering. It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation.
Throw caution to the wind in pursuit of pleasure, because if it hurts, then it’s probably worth it

Spend More money to the needy …GOD just looks for empty pockets to fill and not the vice - versa… so dont save ! LOL –just kidding !

A delightful children’s story tells of a little blue engine who looked at his impossible task of pulling a train up a steep hill and said, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.” Filled with determination, the little blue engine huffed and puffed and pulled up the hill. But in an amusing twist to the original story, another author wrote:

“He was almost there, when — CRASH! SMASH! BASH! He slid down and mashed into engine hash On the rocks below…which goes to show If the track is tough and the hill is rough THINKING you can ain’t enough. The winner glories in the good; the whiner majors in the mediocre.
Winners’ thinking processes differ from other people’s. As part of their normal, moment-to-moment stream of consciousness, winners think constantly in terms of I can and I will. Losers concentrate their waking thoghts on…what they should have done…would have done…what they can’t do. When the mind’s self-talk is positive, performance is more likely to be successful. The huge majority of our negative doubts and fears are imaginary or beyond our control.”
